Dr. Mohamed M. Atia (P. Eng and SMIEEE) received B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in computer systems from Ain Shams University in 2000 and 2006 and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston in 2013. Dr. Atia held several positions in the industry developing AI algorithms for a broad spectrum of applications such as natural language processing, online speech recognition, and real-time embedded multi-sensors navigation systems. He is currently an associate professor and director of EMSLab in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University in Ottawa. He is a recipient of several academic awards such as the Alberta Innovate Association, the IEEE Excellence in Ph.D. research, Mitacs Elevate PDF, NSERC PDF, and Queen’s University Teaching Award. Dr. Atia has 4 granted patents, two book chapters, and more than 70 international publications in AI and sensor fusion.
