Meg D. Lonergan (they/she) is a doctoral candidate in Legal Studies with a collaborative specialization in Political Economy. Lonergan’s dissertation research focuses on Canadian obscenity law post-Butler decision and utilizes a Derridean hauntological approach to understand how the obscenity provisions are haunted by previous cultural traumas.

Her research interests include cultural criminology; hauntology; obscenity law; horror and porn studies; moral regulations; violence; sex and technology; qualitative methods; research ethics; feminist controversies in sex and law; and true crime media.

Lonergan also teaches as a contract instructor at Carleton University in Legal Studies and the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
