Dr. Atris Pabriks, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Latvia spoke to Professor Joan DeBardeleben’s class on European Integration and European Security (EURR 4104) on Monday, May 6th, 2019. Dr. Pabriks received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Aarhus, and has held positions in academia, the public service and as an elected Member of Parliament. Also in attendance was the Ambassador of Latvia to Canada, H.E. Kārlis Eihenbaums. Dr. Pabriks outlined some of the security challenges Latvia faces including issues around communications, cyber and physical security. A lively discussion with the class followed.
