The IDRC Research Chairs on Forced Displacement are pleased to announce the official launch of the Declaration on the Foundations and Renewal of International Protection for Forcibly Displaced Populations.
The Declaration was adopted during the Policy Dialogue on Forced Displacement, held in Rabat, Morocco, on 3 June 2026.
Convened by the IDRC Research Chairs on Forced Displacement, the Policy Dialogue brought together scholars, educators, and advocates from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa. Participants gathered in Rabat on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees to reflect on the foundations of international protection and to advance a renewed vision for addressing forced displacement in today’s world.
