Machine Shop

A basic on-site machine shop provided by FIRST Canada will be available in the Ravens’ Nest for team use (including a drill press, band saw, and more). Please note that all teams are responsible for their own materials to be used within the shop.

Parking

Parking Lot P5, located directly adjacent to Alumni Hall, is the ideal parking location for all teams, volunteers, and event staff for the duration of the competition. Event parking will be free all weekend with no pass or ticket required.

After load-in, larger vehicles, including buses, cargo vans and vehicles with trailers, are required to park in Parking Lot P7. (also free of charge with no pass or ticket required).

Team Load-In/Load-Out

Load-in will begin on Friday, March 13 at 3:00 PM. Teams are asked to line up in Parking Lot P5 (next to Alumni Hall) and to follow the posted signage within the lot. The load-in zone will be coned off and monitored by Parking Services attendants and FIRST volunteers, who will be present to guide and assist teams. Depending on the location of your pit, teams will be directed to one of two entrances into the Ravens’ Nest, less than a minute’s walk away.

Load-out will begin in the afternoon of Sunday, March 15, at the end of the Quarter Finals matches. The load-out zone will be coned off and monitored by Parking Services attendants and FIRST Volunteers, who will be available to guide and assist you.

Buses, cargo vans, and vehicles with trailers are welcome in the load-in/load-out zone, but will be required to park in Lot P7 outside of the scheduled load-in and load-out periods.

Team Social

We’re pleased to share that Carleton’s Faculty of Engineering and Design will be hosting a Team Social at its inaugural FIRST Robotics Competition District Event!

Friday, March 13 from 5:00-8:00 PM

Join us in the Norm Fenn Gym (just a one minute walk from the Ravens’ Nest) for an evening of free food, friends, and fun! There are a lot of things to get excited for, including:

*Please note that the use of personal cooking apparatuses (crock-pots, grills, hot plates, kettles, etc.) will not be permitted on-site due to health and safety regulations.

Quiet Room

A Quiet Room will be available in the adjacent Athletics Building (Multipurpose Room 2409, signs will be posted) to provide a dedicated space where event participants can relax, regroup, and get away from common competition stressors.

Prayer Room

The Muslim Prayer Room (Musala), operated by the Carleton University Muslim Students’ Association, is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for anyone to practice their faith in a clean and safe environment. It is located in Room 225A of the University Centre (2nd Floor). Ablution (wudhu) facilities are also available beside the Musala.

Directions from Event Venue (via Tunnels):

1. Enter the tunnels at the Athletics Building, following Path C
2. Turn right to follow Path A
3. Exit through the doors on the left to enter the University Centre (North Entrance)
4. Take the stairs up to Level 2
5. Follow the hallway straight ahead
6. The Prayer Room (225A) will be on your right
