Verena is a Ph.D. fellow at Aalborg University, Denmark. Her research focus is on labour market issues in the Arctic, with a special focus on the recruitment and retention of labour in Greenland. The research especially is looking at current strategies and measures of recruitment and retention that local employers are using. The ph.d. project is a collaboration between two Danish stakeholders, Aalborg University and Arctic Consensus, and two Greenlandic stakeholders, the Municipality of Sermersooq and the Greenland Business Association. Verena was born and raised in the South of Germany, and has a B.A. in Languages and Literature from Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany (2014), and a M.A. in Arctic Studies and International Migration and Ethnic Relations from Aalborg University, Denmark (2016). She lives and works in the capital of Greenland, Nuuk.
