Aileen received her B.A. with highest honours from Carleton University in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Psychology, and a minor in Law. She completed her honours thesis under the supervision of Dr. Ralph Serin, examining motives for substance abuse in relation to violent and non-violent behaviours with incarcerated male offenders. She completed her Masters in Psychology with a forensic focus under the supervision of Dr. Shelley Brown and Dr. Kelley Blanchette, where she assessed gender differences in institutional risk and adjustment in adult offenders.

Her previous work has included the assessment of relational health and therapeutic alliances in women’s correctional institutions and the assessment of dynamic security practices. Her main interests relate to gender differences in criminal behaviour with a specific focus on federal corrections, the institutional environment, and effective correctional practices for women.
