Meghan is a Ph.D. student in forensic psychology at Carleton University. She received her first undergraduate degree in criminology and criminal justice at Carleton and during that time discovered a passion for psychology and forensic research. She then completed a second undergraduate degree in psychology, also at Carleton, under the supervision of Dr. John Weekes. She completed her master’s degree in psychology in fall of 2020 at Carleton under the supervision of Dr. Julie Blais. Wanting to continue her education, she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in psychology under the supervision of Dr. Shelley Brown.

Research: For her honours thesis, Meghan examined the effectiveness of two substance misuse treatments for individuals involved in the criminal justice system. For her master’s thesis she assessed whether utilizing a new system of risk communication aided in the comprehension of risk and treatment amenability of a mock justice-involved individual.

Future Goals: Meghan’s Ph.D. research is currently TBD, but she is interested in risk assessment in a feminist context and validating risk assessments for women involved in the criminal justice system.
