Meghan Garvey ( She/Her )

Ph.D. Candidate

Meghan is a PhD candidate studying forensic psychology at Carleton University, where she also completed her master’s and undergraduate degrees. For her PhD dissertation, Meghan is re-weighting and updating the classification bins for a gender-responsive risk, need, and protective tool, the Service Planning Instrument for Women (SPIn-W). Meghan currently works for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council in the Evaluation Division as a program evaluation officer.

Research Interests: risk assessment, gender and crime, correctional research, justice-impacted women, quantitative data analysis

Future Goals: Implement weighting changes on the SPIn-W in a northeastern state. Re-weight and classify the SPIn-W for other jurisdictions. Continue research on making the criminal justice system a safer place for women.
