Catherine Riva (1969) was born in Lausanne, where she graduated (MA) in French literature, Russian language and literature, and in Linguistics. She is an investigative journalist specialised in public health and pharmaceuticals, with particular emphasis on market approval (MA), conflicts of interest, evidence-based medicine (EBM), design and methodology of clinical trials. Catherine trains journalists and researchers in the skills needed to investigate Big Pharma and analyse medical research. Her in-depth articles are published by Swiss media and by international biomedical journals. Her work has received numerous awards. Co-founder of ReCheck, Investigating and Mapping Health Affairs (www.re-check.ch), Catherine is regularly invited as a trainer and speaker by universities and journalism organisations. She is also a translator and author.
