From Risks to Transformational Action

Welcome to the lab on technology and policy for climate risks, resilience and transformational action. This lab focuses on developing, synthesising and sharing knowledge on the opportunities and risks related to technological and societal responses to support equitable and effective mitigation and adaptation action.

What is and why do we need transformational climate action?

Climate change is here and now. We are experiencing the impacts, and in the absence of action, we will face escalating risks. These risks can be managed through immediate and concerted efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and with adaptation to moderate unavoidable impacts. But, doing this will require unprecedented and transformational change!

Transformational changes includes:

  • Developing and deploying new technologies and approaches that can achieve mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development goals
  • Understanding differential vulnerability and how institutions and capacity inform climate risks and policy
  • Transforming how we build and where we live in anticipation of climate change and its impacts
  • Fostering inclusive and equitable decision-making on climate action
