Carleton University’s Global Water Institute will celebrate World Water Day with the seminar Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in the Era of the SDGs – New Directions and Emerging Trends presented by Clarissa Brocklehurst.

Brocklehurst began her career working on projects related to the water and sanitation needs of First Nations communities. She then managed water and sanitation projects in Togo and Sri Lanka before becoming the representative for WaterAid in Bangladesh and a Regional Urban Specialist for the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program in South Asia. In 1997, she was appointed the chief of UNICEF’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Section, overseeing UNICEF’s water and sanitation programming in 100 countries and playing a role in developing strategy and advocacy for the global water supply and sanitation sector. Brocklehurst is now a consultant based in Ottawa.
