Carleton University, located in Canada, is all set to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several educational institutes of India. As per sources, Carleton University is the only university in the world to have a full-fledged India-centric Centre of Excellence in Science, Technology, Trade and Policy.

Further, sources informed that the MoUs will be signed during the visit of the President and Vice-Chancellor of the Carleton University to India. Roseann Runte, President, Carleton University, told that she would meet top Indian academics and sign MoUs with various institutions during her five-day visit which takes her to Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

In addition, Ms. Runte informed that they will sign MoUs with Jindal Global University near Delhi, Jai Hind College under Mumbai University, IIT Mumbai and Petroleum University. These MoUs are geared towards exchange of faculties, students and interns, joint research and programmes, and conducting joint degree courses, she told.

As per sources, Ms. Runte would meet the President of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute during her visit to Hyderabad. Further, sources informed that Ms. Runte has been invited by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Hyderabad campus, to be their guest at their cultural celebrations, to be held on February 10, 2011.

Ms. Runte said that she would also meet representatives of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to discuss joint initiatives with them. She added that they may sign a MoU with FICCI on internships, conferences and sharing information among businesses in the two countries.
