H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the 11th president of India, will deliver a presentation entitled “Birth of enlightened society.“ Kalam became the 11th president of India on July 25, 2002. He left office after five eventful years. His goal is the transformation of India into a developed nation by 2020 by focusing on the constructive networking and excellent human resources needed for an economically developed, prosperous and peaceful society. Kalam became an academic in November 2001 as a professor of technology and societal transformation at Anna University, Chennai. During this time, he took up the mission to ignite the young minds for national development by meeting with students across India.
During the last decade, Kalam has addressed and inspired more than five million youth. He is passionate about developing rural prosperity through Providing Urban Amenities to Rural Areas (PURA), in which science and technology play a key role. Based on his diverse experience, he has been propagating the concept of the World Knowledge Platform through which the core competencies of organizations and nations can be synergized to innovate and create solutions and products for the challenges of the 21st century. In his literary pursuits, Kalam has authored a number of books, many of which are now household names in India and among Indian nationals living abroad such as Ignited Minds: Unleashing the Power Within India, You Are Born To Blossom: Take My Journey Beyond, and A Manifesto for Change : A Sequel to India 2020.
