Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission for India. He has been a key figure in India’s economic reforms from the mid 1980’s onwards. Prior to his appointment to the Planning Commission, Dr. Ahluwalia was the first Director of the Independent Evaluation Office at the International Monetary Fund. In 1979 Dr. Ahluwalia joined the Government of India and has held senior positions within the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce. In 2011 he was conferred the prestigious ‘Padma Vibhushan’ by the President of India for his outstanding contribution to economic policy and public service. Dr. Ahluwalia earned his B.A. (Hons) degree in New Delhi and his M.A. and M.Phil Degrees from Oxford University. View video
