Lajpat Prasher
Chairman, Tortel Group of Companies
Lajpat Prasher is the chairman of Tortel Group of Companies since 2007. His previous involvement was as president of Tortel Communications Inc from 1990 – 2007, and president of Tortel USA from 1998 – 2007. Tortel is a unique member of the telecom community. A diverse group of companies, Tortel offers a broad range of products and services including next generation telephony communication solutions aimed at the business customer, as well as resellers serving the business community. Prior to Tortel Mr. Prasher spent 11 years (1978 – 89) at Northern Telecom in various departments and with increasing levels of responsibility in management.
Mr. Prasher is a registered professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario since 1993. He earned his Bachelor of Technology at Ryerson Institute of Technology in Toronto 1978 and is accredited for Professional Engineering Status in Ontario at the University of Toronto 1989.
Mr. Prasher has already spent time in India as an active board member of the Canada India Centre developing important opportunities for future partnerships.
Mr. Prasher is the Current National Convenor of the Canada India Foundation and is a past member of the Board of Directors of Canada India Business Council.
He contributes to his local community through affiliations with Troy’s Christmas Toy Drive, Free the Children, the King City Food Bank, the York Regional Police Association and the Festival of India & International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
