Sudhir Handa is the CEO of Pro Flange Limited and has investments in real estate holdings. Trained as a chartered accountant, after 32 years in public and private sectors, Sudhir left his well known field of investment real estate and founded Pro Flange in 2003. As the CEO, he has built the company to become one of the leading manufacturers of flanges in Canada. Sudhir’s passion for business is only rivalled by his commitment to his family and charity work.
When Sudhir Handa finished his university education in India in the 1960s he headed to North America. He had opportunities to settle in the United States or Canada and chose Canada, largely because of an offer from Carleton University to his brother Sushil. The university provided Sushil with a scholarship and financial support to pursue a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering. Sudhir followed, completing his qualifications to become a chartered accountant.
A couple of years ago, Sudhir began thinking about how to bring Canada and India closer together through a centre devoted to education. He was convinced the location of the centre had to be Carleton because of its location in Canada’s capital and because he has a special place in his heart for Carleton.
Education is very important to Sudhir. “It is because of the education I got in India and Canada that I have been able to make a comfortable living and provide for my family. There comes a time in life when you have to give back to the society which has given you the opportunity to make something out of yourself.”
