Dr. Marilynn Cooper
Dr. Marilynn Cooper was born and raised in Saskatchewan, where she also completed her medical education. After several years in practice, she joined the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as a temporary employee, working in Ottawa to process medical examinations for individuals applying to immigrate to Canada. This experience proved invaluable when, in 1999, she was deployed to Macedonia to conduct medical assessments for Kosovar refugees. Deeply moved by her work with refugee communities, Dr. Cooper decided to join CIC on a permanent basis, where she travelled and worked with refugee populations around the world.
