Fazli Mazreku & Flutura Mazreku Seeback
Fazli Mazreku is a distinguished Albanian academic and intellectual, known for his tireless advocacy for the rights of Kosovar Albanians. In 1999, during the Kosovo War, his life was in danger due to his work with international organizations and his unwavering stance against the oppressive regime. Forced into hiding as the conflict escalated, Fazli was tragically separated from his family, enduring the agony of not knowing their fate.
His daughter, Flutura Mazreku Seeback, immigrated to Canada in 1999 with her mother and siblings, under the assumption that her father had been killed. Raised between Canada and Kosovo, Flutura pursued higher education, earning a BA in law and philosophy from the University of Ottawa and an MA Carleton University specializing in international refugee law.
Together, Fazli and Flutura will share the story of their reunion in Canada, and how they have since navigated life between their two homes—rebuilding their lives post-war in both Kosovo and Canada.
