Sensors for Human-Robot Interaction
Physical Human-robot Interaction (pHRI), whether in assistance or collaborative modes, requires safe and compliant interfaces between the robot and human (or even robot and a sensitive environment). At ABL we have developed more a precise optical compliant sensor for biomedical applications. The Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) and intensity based fibre transducer technologies enable a precision measurement while allowing the sensor to deflect for safety. The new sensing modalities can lead to innovations in health monitoring once miniaturized and integrated in the shoes.
