Karlee is from Ottawa. She studied Languages at Wilfrid Laurier University, but after a conversation with a professional from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, she quickly transitioned to Global Studies, where she studied immigration, refugees and citizenship. Through the co-op program at Laurier, she was fortunate to be a recipient of an award that enabled her to work for a nonprofit that couldn’t otherwise afford a summer student. After working for the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre for both of her co-op terms, she quickly fell in love with the nonprofit sector.
With a passion for helping people, especially youth, Karlee researched graduate programs that would allow her to pursue a career in the philanthropic and nonprofit sector. She found the MPNL program, which will further development the skills she obtained from working in the nonprofit sector.
When Karlee isn’t learning and attending classes, she enjoys cooking, physical activity, spending time with family, and visiting friends.
