In Oct. 2022, Carleton University’s MPNL program and TD Bank Group hosted the Annual TD Lecture, “The Future(s) of NextGen Philanthropy in Canada.” Moderated by Dr. Susan Phillips, Professor and Graduate Supervisor of the program, the panel discussed ways to teach or encourage other philanthropists to do things differently. Here’s a recording of the event:
Sabina Vohra-Miller (co-founder of the Vohra-Miller Foundation) talks about the power of using her platform to mobilize others and elevate causes she believes in — and how some of her most exciting projects have been pilot projects about systems change.
Among other issues, Dr. Sharilyn Hale (with Watermark Philanthropic Counsel and MPNL Advisory Council member) speaks about Next Gen in a broader context — Next Gen as less about age and more about position in a family and about those who are taking on the reins of family businesses and philanthropy.
Isaac Olowolafe Jr. (co-founder of BKR Capital) asks how can we make an impact at all times in our life as we gain different experiences and enter different doors and open those doors for others.
