Hilary Pearson, former president of Philanthropic Foundations Canada, discussed her new book, From Charity to Change: Inside the World of Canadian Foundations, which offers a portrait of today’s foundation landscape and highlights organizations that are acting on some of the most pressing social and economic challenges of our time.

Lili-Anna PeresaLili-Anna Pereša, President & CEO of the McConnell Foundation, a private Canadian foundation that contributes to diverse and innovative approaches to address community resilience, reconciliation and climate change. It does so through funding and investment partnerships, strengthening capabilities, convening, and collaborating with the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Arti FreemanArti Freeman, Founding CEO of Definity Insurance Foundation, spoke about Definity, a registered charity dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Canadians, particularly in marginalized and underserved areas. Definity Foundation makes grants to registered charities that address the health and environmental impacts of inequality through community-based services, advocacy and awareness initiatives, and research and knowledge development.
