Emma Murgida received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2022. Through these classes, Emma was exposed to the world of social justice and participated in research examining moral development and human behaviour, leading to her first co-op placement within the nonprofit sector.
Since graduating, Emma has continued her experience in the nonprofit field, working in a social enterprise where she supports individuals experiencing homelessness with finding employment. In this role, she worked one-on-one with program participants and established relationships with community partners. Emma has been able to continue to work on innovative projects and launch new ideas by participating in the Leadership Social Justice Initiative hosted by the University of Toronto School of Cities and The United Way GTA.
With the growing demand for services provided within the nonprofit industry, and her passion for helping others, the MPNL program was Emma’s perfect match. In pursuing this education, Emma hopes to expand on her leadership potential, develop new skills, and learn from the perspectives of other individuals working within the sector.
In her free time, Emma can be found in the kitchen trying out a new recipe or relaxing by the water with a book.
