Julia Russell first took an interest in the nonprofit sector while completing a high-school co-op placement at a local agency that provided early intervention services to children with special needs. She continued to work and volunteer with social service agencies while completing her post-secondary education at the University of Waterloo.
Julia obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Social Development Studies and a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies (2016), as well as a Bachelor of Social Work degree (2017). Julia is currently a Registered Social Worker with a community nonprofit organization in the Waterloo Region that supports individuals with developmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder, including supporting their families.
Julia is looking forward to continuing her knowledge of the nonprofit sector through the MPNL program and hopes to gain additional hands-on leadership skills.
Julia enjoys hiking with her husband and two energetic and loving Cocker Spaniels, Hunter (7) and Rory (4), as well as reading and spending time with friends and family.
