Maggie Larocque (she/her) graduated with Honours from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, Social Justice Studies and Indigenous Studies. Her undergraduate research consisted of two core projects: bridging the gap between the academy and community by working with the local and multi-provincial unhoused population, as well as working in local shelter housing to reimagine un-gendering within women’s shelters in Montreal.
Maggie has gained experience in the nonprofit sector in the gender equity, environmental and youth mentorship fields. She’s currently running a neighbourhood house in British Columbia, as a Coordinator of BGC South Coast BC, while continuing to operate her environmental work in her own nonprofit, the Uplift Canada Foundation. In her off-time, Maggie trains for marathons, travels, and spends quality time with friends and family.
Maggie Larocque is the 2024 recipient of the Jackson Family Scholarship Community in Engagement.
