Congratulations to Dr. Susan Phillips for winning a Community Engagement Excellence Award. Created this year by Carleton University’s Faculty of Public Affairs, this inaugural award recognizes faculty who have made an exceptional contribution to building institutional relationships between the university and local, provincial, national and international communities.
Dr. Phillips is the Interim Chief Advancement Officer at Carleton University and, until recently, was the Graduate Supervisor of the Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership program, where she led many faculty projects, events and collaborations with government, private-sector organizations and nonprofit-sector leaders in Canada and internationally.
During her 11-year tenure as MPNL Graduate Supervisor, she and her team developed hundreds of collaborations for student internships, capstones and research opportunities, partly through PANL Perspectives.
These opportunities have not only enhanced student engagement with nonprofit organizations and communities across Canada and around the world, but they’ve also informed the sector’s professional practices and public policies and generated deeper conversations about philanthropy and the nonprofit sector in Canada.
