After graduating from Tevfik Fikret French high school in 1981 and Ankara University, Political Science Faculty, Department of International Relations in 1985, Kerim Uras completed his master’s degree on “Iraq’s ethnic structure and Turkomans” from the same Faculty at Ankara University. Starting his career in 1985 at the Cyprus Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara, Kerim Uras carried out various diplomatic missions abroad in Germany-Hannover, Cyprus, London, and New York UN, in addition to working at the Cyprus-Greece, Middle East, Europe, and NATO Departments in Capital, Ankara. He served as Ambassador designate to Israel while residing in Ankara (due to the Mavi Marmara flotilla incident) between 2010 and 2011. Kerim Uras served as Turkish Ambassador to Greece between 2011 and 2016. Back in Ankara, he was appointed as Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Türkiye and Member of the Foreign Policy Board between 2016-2018. He served as Turkish Ambassador to Canada between 2018-2023 and retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador (E) Kerim Uras is now Senior Fellow with the Centre in Modern Turkish Studies, housed at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University. He has also been working as Advisor to the Chairman at Çalık Holding as of 2023. He is married with 3 children.
