Office: | Shahram joins MuBEST Lab as a visiting scholar. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Human Performance Lab (HPL) in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Recently, he was honored to receive the prestigious Alberta Innovates Award for Digital & Data-Enabled (D&DE) Health Research. He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Biomechanics. He completed part of his PhD at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, before moving to Canada and joining the University of Guelph for the final part of his PhD research. After graduating, he held RA and PDF positions at the University of Guelph. He then joined the University of Windsor as a PDF, where he had the opportunity to serve as a sessional instructor for multiple semesters in the Department of Mechanical, Automotive, and Materials Engineering. His research interests include data analysis, machine learning, deep learning, optimization, motion capture, advanced analytical or numerical investigations, and Finite Element analysis in biomechanics. The current projects he is working on are "Smart Rehabilitation: Leveraging Machine Learning and Deep Learning to Classify Leg Health and Predict Asymmetry for Enhanced Knee Osteoarthritis Treatment" at HPL and "Implementing a Two-Scale FE Model for Investigating the Stress Distribution on Healthy and Degenerated Chondrocytes" at MuBEST Lab. During his leisure time, he enjoys watching or playing sports, especially tennis and soccer, reading tech articles, listening to podcasts, and watching historical documentaries. |
