This project is intended to explore prisoners’ experiences of incarceration intended to identify major issues facing prisoners (including immigration detainees). The definition of these major issues will form the bedrock of a larger partnership grant in which prisoners will be provided with a platform to share their experiences. Imprisonment is experienced differently based on geography, jurisdiction (federal vs provincial), sex segregation, race, indigeneity and security levels. The Prison Transparency Project is divided into two stages 1.0 and 2.0 and intends to highlight the range and variety of experiences given these factors.
