The Aerospace Industries of Canada Association held its annual Canadian Aerospace Summit this week and Carleton Aerospace Director, Jeremy Laliberté, along with Carleton Aerospace faculty, members of the Carleton University Research Office, and the Coop and Career Office were in all attendance. The leading national aerospace summit took place November 17 & 18, 2015 at Ottawa’s Shaw Centre. The event began with its signature trade show and B2B platform on Tuesday, followed by a conference on Wednesday.

With 1000 participants and 100 exhibitors, the trade show hosted members of industry, government, and academia from across the aerospace sector. Exhibitors came together to examine the opportunities and challenges of aerospace in the 21st century. A unique B2B platform provided attendees with a chance to meet one-on-one with industry representatives to discuss specific opportunities for collaboration.
Laliberté is encouraged about the role of academia in aerospace research. “This year’s Summit was another great event for Carleton Aerospace. The positive prospects for long-term growth in global air traffic and the development of new, more efficient aircraft that we learned about at the event represent amazing opportunities for Carleton’s aerospace researchers and students,” he said.
Speakers and panelists at the conference included representatives from Boeing, Bombardier, Airbus, and Lockheed Martin, among others. Topics covered innovation, partnership, and the role of small business within the sector. According to Laliberté, “universities play a key role in the development of cutting edge technology and innovation remains a primary objective. Through the support of industry and government, our research is improving safety and efficiency across the aerospace sector.”
As a leader in the field, Carleton continues to make significant contributions to the aerospace field and is well positioned work with partners to define the future of aerospace.
