Terrin Stachiw graduated in 2018 from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace with High Distinction and received the Senate Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. He began his research career in the field of flight test, simulation, and modelling with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). In 2017, he received the NRC Outstanding Achievement Award in the Partnership category in recognition for efforts that maximized NRC’s assets to execute a back-to-back flight test project under a tight timeline. He completed his Master of Applied Science degree in 2020 with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council: Canada Graduate Scholarship–Master’s award conducting research in the field of structural dynamics at landing and novel shock absorbers. Mr. Stachiw successfully defended his Thesis in April 2020, titled “Development and Synthesis of Mechanical Networks Including Inerters In Landing Gear Suspensions of Flexible Aircraft for Improved Landing Performance and Comfort at Touchdown.” Mr. Stachiw graduated with a M.A.Sc. in June 2020 and continued as a Research Assistant in the Applied Dynamics Laboratory specializing multibody dynamic simulation and in the field of dynamic loading of flexible aircraft during landing under a Mitas Research Training Award.

Supervisors: Dr. Fred F. Afagh, Dr. Fidel Khouli, and Dr. Robert Langlois
