Adam Wills

Adam Wills commenced his PhD studies on net-zero energy communities in 2013.  He is applying building performance simulation tools (ESP-r and TRNSYS) and stock modelling methods to explore ways to significantly reduce the energy demands of communities of 50 or more houses through centralized and decentralized systems.

Adam’s MASc work investigated the seasonal storage of solar thermal energy for providing space and water heating demands at the single-house scale.  This ESP-r / TRNSYS co-simulation study eventually led to the design and implementation of such a system at the Urbandale Centre for Home Energy Research, which is now being examined experimentally by others.
