Bio
“My name is Alyssa Schenk, and I am a 4th year doctoral student in the School of Social Work at Carleton University. I previously completed my undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies and Social Work at the University of Windsor in 2013 and later returned to complete a Master of Social Work in 2017.
Much of my professional social work experience has been in the field of immigration and human trafficking, working with immigrants and refugee youth in South Western Ontario.
As a doctoral student, my research is focused on the experiences of second-generation immigrant youth in Canada – specifically Filipino-Canadian youth. My doctoral research intends to explore the issues of identity and cultural navigation, and negotiation of these youth.”
