Janet Mantler

Biography

Janet Mantler is an organizational psychologist who has conducted research into work life and how work stress affects mental health for the past 25 years. Most recently, she has been studying mental health, leaves of absence, and return to work in seven health and knowledge work occupations as part of a pan-Canadian multi-disciplinary partnership project.

Mantler is passionate about how we better support people with their career transitions. As an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University, she has helped over 300 students to prepare for the transition from university to career through her research and teaching.

As Director of the Centre for Initiatives in Education at Carleton University, she also leads an academic program with the mandate to transform lives by providing supported access to education for learners who do not fit the mould of the traditional university student.
