Perry’s research lies in the practical study of intelligence, defense, and national security, with a keen emphasis on threat and risk assessments, human intelligence (HuMINT), as well as terrorism and counter-terrorism tactics.

His work extends into the realm of human behavior, with the goal of aiding organizations in specialized sectors to implement the latest research findings to enhance performance. This effort includes a focus on leadership, change management, and sophisticated investigative interviewing techniques.

Perry has been researching the human microbiome, particularly its impact on health and wellness, encompassing mental health and the development of various strategies to combat PTSD in first responders. He started the NFP, Thriving Gut Microbiome Action Group, a collaborative of industry, government and academia driving innovative solutions in the health care industry.
