Kelley Blanchette

Kelley Blanchette completed her Doctorate in forensic psychology in 2005. Her area of research is focused primarily on women offenders. Dr. Blanchette developed and implemented a gender-informed security re-classification scale for federally sentenced women. It was implemented by Correctional Service Canada in 2005 and continues to be used at all federal women’s correctional facilities today. She has published correctional research extensively in peer-reviewed and government journals and co-authored an award-winning book entitled “The Assessment and Treatment of Women Offenders”. Dr. Blanchette is an adjunct professor at Carleton University and a Peer Reviewer for numerous academic journals. She has held a number of management positions at Correctional Service Canada, including Senior Director, Correctional Research; Director General, Women Offender Sector; and Director General, Mental Health Branch. In January 2017, she was appointed as Deputy Commissioner for Women.
