Job Aids - Criminal Justice Decision Making Laboratory

The job aids are organized to assist corrections and probation/parole staff in terms of case planning. These are organized into specific areas:

Case planning and case management
1. Descriptions of creating a behaviour or offense chain.
2. An example decision grid to examine costs and benefits of crime versus prosocial behaviour.
Risk assessment
1. An overview and summary of static and dynamic risk factors in order to understand risk assessment for different offender outcomes.
Offender change – interactive journals/offender workbooks
1. Topics include motivation to change, anger management, attitudes and associates, peers and relationships, and substance abuse.
2. Created to provide intervention for low risk cases.
3. Validation studies are ongoing regarding user satisfaction and impact on client outcomes.
