Jacky Tweedie belongs to that cohort of cognitive scientists working for the Government of Canada. She provides senior advice and analysis on a range of files (see Linkedin profile for more). She applies a liberal treatment of cognitive science research methodologies, frameworks and assumptions to policy development and service delivery (particularly systems analysis as well as human factors). Both separately and together serve well when tackling systems change (more complex than even Vicente dreamed of) and redesign of programs and services for Canadians (users of systems). She particularly finds her grounding in AI and computer science very useful in engaging on public policy dialogue on ‘innovating in government via AI’. Herbert Simon remains one of her favourite cognitive scientists, even though government policy people believe him to be a public administration theorist.
