The Second Global Pedagogies Workshop jointly organized by Dr. Birgit Hopfener and Dr. Morgan Currie.
The workshop will introduce, compare and discuss approaches and models of transnational and transcultural historiography that have been conceptualized and adopted in the disciplines of history, art/architectural history, and heritage studies. With regards to pedagogy, we will discuss how to teach undergraduate surveys and introductions of history and art/architectural
history from transcultural and transnational perspectives. We will discuss challenges and what knowledge and practices we envision our students to take away from such courses. We will also consider practical issues like syllabus design and choosing appropriate readings.
Speakers:
3:30 – 4:30 Susan Ross (School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies) “Teaching the History of Canadian Heritage Practice as part of International Conservation Associations.”
4:30 – 5:30 Dr. Dominique Marshall (Department of History) “Teaching Transnational History.”
