Performance…Art? An artist talk by Cara Tierney
September 29, 2017 at 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Location: | 201D (ICSLAC Seminar Room) St. Patrick's Building |
Cost: | Free |
Audience: | Anyone |
Using their own practice, studies, and interests as points of departure Cara Tierney will stimulate a convivial dialogue on performance art – it’s histories, it’s tenuous relationship to “Art” and the “Art World” and how it could potentially be mobilized as a radically subversive, emancipatory and daily practice.
Cara is an interdisciplinary artist whose work questions the role of gender and its relationship to the material body. They are also currently a second year PhD student in Cultural Mediations (ICSLAC) and recently curated Transactions at the Carleton University Art Gallery.
This session is part of The Friday Table, a series of weekly Friday afternoon events organized by the Graduate Steering Committee for the Centre for Transnational Cultural Analysis (CTCA) and the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture (ICSLAC) at Carleton University. We aim to bolster the Centre’s mandate to bring together scholars and students working with transnational approaches to studies in the humanities through regular, informal workshops, roundtables, film screenings, and discussion groups. The Friday Table seeks to foster collegiality and promote student-led research-creation. Events are free and open to all.
