Quite often in classes, it’s difficult to keep track of who is doing what, when. Different events take place over the course of a semester that instructors need to keep track of, however, it can be a logistical nightmare trying to keep everything straight. Thanks to two new tools that have recently been introduced, this course management becomes a whole lot easier.
The new Attendance tool allows instructors to track student attendance throughout the semester. You can choose to keep it completely transparent and open for students, including allowing self-tracking. Or, you can keep it under control by those with grading capabilities in the course, including TAs and other instructors.
The other new tool that has recently been introduced is Scheduler. This tool lets you organize meetings, presentations, events and other class activities that need to be set up in advance. It enables students and instructors to coordinate asynchronously while keeping a record of the interaction so that double-bookings can be avoided. There is a grading function as well, that allows presentations and other in-class activities to be graded directly in cuLearn.
Having transparency in tracking these activities becomes important when grades are involved, so adding these features was deemed a priority to improve the system for all users. Both of these new features were requested by instructors. If you have an idea for a new plugin or feature, please share with us and we’ll explore the possibilities of adding it.
