The Eco Social Work Network was founded in the fall of 2021 with the goal of building understanding and ecological consciousness among social work students, the social work profession and society. We are particularly interested in the intersection between social work and environmental issues, including disproportionate and inequitable effects of climate change and other challenges that are experienced by different groups in Canada and internationally. We are informed by understandings of the connection between the well being of humans and the environment, and our ethical commitments to playing a role in addressing environmental issues that include climate change, sustainable development, food security, and environmental justice.
