June 2023 Finance and Administration Newsletter

Message from Lorraine Dyke, VP Finance and Administration

Summer is finally here!

Finance and Administration staff played a key role in Convocation – from the logistics and setting up (thank you FMP!) to those who volunteered their time at the ceremonies that took place from June 12-16. Thank you to everybody. I had the privilege of being part of the official platform party for two ceremonies. It was exciting to watch all our grads receive their degrees and start the next chapter of their lives.

I would like to thank the Appreciation Day organizing committee for putting together such an amazing event on June 22. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and it was wonderful to see so many of our colleagues in person again. It was a great day.

A special congratulations goes out to our Associate Vice-President (ITS) Valerie Turner, who was recently named Chair of the Ontario University Council of Chief Information Officers at their annual conference held in Toronto.

In closing, I hope you get a chance to take some time off to recharge and spend time with family and friends. I will be taking time off in July and will look forward to reconnecting with you soon.

All the best,

Lorraine

Please note that during the construction period, Colonel By Drive will be closed nightly from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday to Friday. The roadway will be open on weekends. During this work, it’s recommended that the Bronson entrance is used to access campus. Please plan your commute accordingly.

Let’s all work together to beat the heat and keep each other safe during these hot summer days. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe!
