- Since 2005, Carleton has reduced greenhouse gas carbon emissions by 35 per cent and energy use intensity by 21 per cent.
- Carleton achieved “Gold” in its latest STARS (Sustainability Tracking and Ranking System) assessment in 2022 and was also recognized as a Sustainable Campus Index Top Performer by AASHE.
- The Carleton Building Performance Research Centre advances the state-of-the-art building and community design and operations while improving comfort and usability. The Centre has over 40 graduate students and community/industry partners.
- Carleton ranked 49th internationally and second in Canada among over 900 universities in the UI Green Metrics international ranking system for sustainability in 2022.
- As of 2022, Carleton has updated its responsible investment policies to include a commitment to not hold any direct fossil fuel investments in its Endowment and Non-Endowed Operating Funds, as well as a strategy to achieve significant decarbonization of these portfolios by 2030.
- Carleton is also a signatory of Investing to Address Climate Change: A Charter for Canadian Universities.
