Dr. Leighann C. Neilson is Associate Professor of Marketing at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University. She is also a Research Associate with the Carleton Centre for Public History. Dr. Neilson’s research focuses on historical aspects of marketing and consumption. She has held several executive positions within the CHARM (Conference on Historical Analysis and Research in Marketing) Association and is a founding editorial board member of the Journal of Historical Research in Marketing (JHRM). Her history-related research has been published in JHRM and the Journal of Macromarketing, as well as in several edited collections. Her research on family history (genealogy) was supported by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). She is currently working on a biography of John Murray Gibbon, a publicity agent for Canadian Pacific Railways, who was instrumental in building their brand.
