To All Members of the Carleton Community,

Over the past four weeks, the Carleton University Strategic Indigenous Initiatives Committee (CUISIC) has facilitated consultation sessions with more than 10 on-campus stakeholder groups.

The discussions at these sessions have been rich, collaborative and informative. In addition to several upcoming invitation-only sessions that we have scheduled with specific on-campus groups, we are holding four open sessions at the end of this month.

The purpose of the consultation sessions is to gather feedback on broad themes, which include community engagement, ways of teaching and learning, Carleton’s culture and systems and the student experience. Your feedback and comments on these themes will help to inform Carleton’s Indigenous strategy.

Upcoming Consultation Sessions:

Please register online to confirm your attendance as space is limited. You can also provide feedback directly through the CUSIIC website any time throughout this process.

CUISIC convened last fall to revitalize the university’s Indigenous strategy and re-energize relationships with Indigenous communities in the region and across the country. The committee is comprised of First Nations, Métis and Inuit members from local communities, as well as Carleton faculty, professional services staff and students. The committee has been meeting regularly since December. A full activity timeline is available on the CUSIIC website.

We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the entire community to revitalize Carleton’s Indigenous strategy, as we recognize our special responsibility to support the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Sincerely,
