Theresa Hendricks has accepted a 10-month appointment in the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) as a Special Projects Officer in support of the Carleton University Strategic Indigenous Initiatives Committee (CUSIIC).
Led by co-chairs Benny Michaud, Kahente Horn-Miller and Jerry Tomberlin, the committee will revitalize Carleton’s Indigenous strategy and re-energize relationships with Indigenous communities in the region and across the country.
CUSIIC’s mandate is to facilitate widespread engagement sessions in order to develop a set of Carleton-specific recommendations as part of an institutional response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s final report.
Hendricks joins the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) from Research Financial Services where she worked as a Financial Administrator.
In this new role, Hendricks will report to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and will work closely with the committee co-chairs to provide administrative support and project management and planning for the committee’s activities, including the coordination of internal and external consultation sessions.
“It was an honour to be invited to join the committee, and an even bigger honour to take on this role in support of the committee’s work,” said Hendricks. “I look forward to the changes that will come from the committee’s activities and I know we will be able to have a positive impact on our communities. It’s good work that needs to happen.”
