Heather Dorries is a professor with Carleton’s School of Public Policy and Administration. She teaches courses in Indigenous politics and policy, Indigenous-Canada relations, and urban planning and policy.

Her research interests arise from the dilemmas that confront planners in light of commitment to social justice and the ways that planning processes are implicated in the erosion of Indigenous sovereignty and the creation of conflicts over urban land use and development in Canada.

Dorries has completed projects on Indigenous knowledge systems, environmental assessment, source water protection and environmental contaminants for the Chiefs of Ontario and Environment Canada.

She holds a BA from McGill University and a master’s and doctorate in planning from the University of Toronto.
