Henderson is cross-appointed to the Department of English and the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies. She teaches and researches in the areas of Canadian culture and settler-colonial studies.
“I am really hoping the process can be fully consultative and respectful, both within and beyond Carleton, so that we can engage in non-extractive relationship-building locally and that we can attend to the tensions between Indigenizing and corporatizing the university,” said Henderson.
Her recent and current research is about the challenges of decolonization in an era when “the bottom line’’ drives so many agendas. She looks forward to working with committee members, the wider Carleton constituency, and local Indigenous communities on tough questions about university teaching and learning in the wake of Canada’s TRC.
