Julianne Dumont
First Nation
Julianne Dumont grew up in Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg and was raised by proud Algonquin Anishinabeg parents. She is a fourth-year BA (Honours) student in Psychology at Carleton.
Actively involved in several communities, Dumont is conducting research to develop a better understanding of factors related to the well-being of Indigenous students as they participate in the post-secondary experience.
Dumont also works as a substitute teacher at Kitigan Zibi’s Paganawatik kindergarten school and at the Maniwaki Woodland’s elementary and high schools. She also holds two positions at the Maniwaki Native Friendship Centre as a life skills teacher and youth worker.
“My goal (with this committee) is to hold the Carleton community accountable to their relationships with the people of the land, the Anishinabeg, as they continue to walk and engage within unceded Algonquin territory.’’
